Title: PBS History

URL: http://www.pbs.org/history/

Comments:This site has many valid resources and is written, updated and upheld by many professionals whose credentials can be validated and are legitimate. Also the fact that this is a .org takes the whole commercial aspect out of the site making it just that much more reliable. This site is affiliated with PBS, as with the two sites above this affiliation is very valid and reflects well on the site as a whole and makes it that much more valuable as a resource for any teacher to use with students. This website lacks any type of slant, thought slightly democratic it doesn’t necessarily show through it any of the works also this site is more valid since we know they are not distorting or messing with facts for commercial purposes. The audience for this particular site once again would probably be views of PBS who have high socioeconomic status stereotypically and who would genuinely be interested in the information presented both on the site and on the station. This site has been updated recently and is a good source that are maintained extremely well making it a great supplement within the classroom. The content of this site is very appropriate and applicable for classrooms, with much informative information it can be a great
resource for teachers and students within the classroom who are seeking information. This website is a very clean and functional website that is easy to navigate and would be easy for students to figure out and utilize to their advantage within the classroom.

Comments: I agree with Brianne in that this website does indeed have a lot of valid resources. The website seems to be great in every aspect, with a ton of options for a lot of individual specific topics from American history to information on National Parks. There are many links leading away from the website and lots of images which is great. On the website you can view information just about the world or national headliners. I really think this site is great for older generation students and might be too boring for children in any grade under eighth or so. I really don't find that any of the advertisements for BBC are necessary to be all over the entire website. Some of the information could be a little more user friendly but for the most part the majority of the page seems to be helpful. BA

Title: BBC History
URL: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/
Comments: This website also has information from many professionals within the field and information on those professionals can also be found and validated. Overall this website seems very legitimate and its overall reputation also validates it. This website is affiliated with the BBC (British Broadcasting Company) this is a very prestigious affiliation seeing as how the BBC has an excellent reputation and is overall a great company. Although it is still slightly commercial it is not as filled with propaganda and slanted stories as some other sites might be. This site doesn’t seem to have any glaring bias, while some bias can be found in certain links and articles about certain subject its is no more than to be expected and is the right amount for somebody trying simply to uphold an opinion or conclusion, there’s nothing out of left field or that sets off any bells. The audience for the BBC is the general public, but it also has a PBS like audience, an audience that is generally well educated and has genuine interest in history. This website is great when it comes to currency it is very up to date with even daily post’s for “this day in history”. There are no dead links to be found on the homepage and everything looks fairly new and updated. While this website is particularly for older students (as can be seen by the amount of text and lack of pictures) it has great content and is very appropriate for any history class. It can be utilized and could make for a great supplement in any history classroom. This site is immaculate, it is very well constructed easy to navigate, it doesn’t have 8 million things blinking at you and distracting you and doesn’t take too long to load, it’s a very clean cut, well put together site which makes it a great classroom resource.

I thought this website was only mediocre. I didn't think it provided enough history lessons for the classroom. I felt like it was purely an advertisement to watch BBC and learn about history, rather than providing information. There were some videos that were on the website that could be very beneficial to use in the classroom, but they were not loading on my computer. If the students had the same problems accessing the videos as me, they would not be very useful. -KM
